The Kotel is the local magical peak exceeding even above Lysá hora, with an elevation of 1435 metres. In the past, it was also known as Krkonoš or Kokrháč. If you go to the ridge, your route will take you past Kotel. Whne taking a look at Kotelní jámy we recommend to do so from a respectful distance. Or you can go and check out some of the historic military bunkers in the area. From the Rokytnice side, the peak is moderate for ascent as well as descent, but unfortunately it is located in the first zone of KRNAP.

Kotel is one of the steepest slopes with most frequent avalanches in the country. But resist the tempting and challenging descent. Not only that it is prohibited, but it is also very well guarded and the slope has already taken more than one life. The best view is from the Harrachovy kameny.

Apartment Kotel

Description

Three-room apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms offering 77.8 m2 of floor space, located on the first floor of the Skialp building. The south-facing interior of the living room features an access to a spacious 12 m2 private terrace with an outdoor backdrop, set in a beautiful mountain scenery that follows up the communal zeen section. All rooms also provide an access to a private garden located on the east side of the building. The apartment's interior provides ample built-in storage space. Each apartment also includes a reserved space for storing skis or bicycles, access to the shared spa with Finnish sauna and entry to the resort's extensive garden with relaxation zones.

Rokytnice nad Jizerou is a mountain town with full service and ranks among the best ski resorts in the Czech Republic. The name of the SKIALP apartment house celebrates Rokytnice nad Jizerou as the mecca of Czech ski mountaineering. Local landmarks such as Lysá hora, the Kotel peak and other places offer a variety of beautiful trips starting with beginner friendly ski mountaineering routes that lead on the ski slopes to more demanding ridge tours across the Krkonoše Mountains. Individual apartments in the Skialp building are named after interesting places that can be visited during ski mountaineering tours in the surrounding area.
